Building a Miniature Shower

Build a miniature shower with tiled walls, a clear glass door and a tiny shower head from wire. A simple project that adds a modern touch to your dollhouse bathroom.

A miniature shower adds a modern touch to any dollhouse bathroom. The best part is the tiny glass door — made from a piece of clear packaging — which looks surprisingly realistic. This is a simple project that gives your bathroom an extra feature and shows just how creative you can be with everyday materials.

Step by Step

Step 1 — Build the Shower Walls

Cut two or three pieces of cardboard to form the walls of the shower cubicle. The shower usually sits in a corner, so you may only need one or two extra walls if the room walls form the other sides. Make the walls tall enough to feel enclosed — roughly the height of the room works well. Glue the walls together at right angles to create a sturdy corner structure.

Step 2 — Add Tiled Paper

Cover the inside of the shower walls with small paper tiles, just as you would tile a real shower. Cut tiny squares and glue them in neat rows. White tiles are classic, but you could also use light blue or add a decorative strip of coloured tiles at eye level for variety. The tiling makes the shower look waterproof and authentic. Let the glue dry completely before moving on.

Step 3 — Create the Glass Door

Cut a piece of clear plastic from packaging — the transparent front of a toy box or a sweet wrapper works perfectly. Cut it to fit the opening of your shower. You can frame it with thin strips of cardboard or wire for a clean edge. The door can be glued in place (as if it is a fixed panel) or left slightly open for a more dynamic look.

Step 4 — Make the Shower Head

Bend a piece of thin wire into an L-shape — the vertical part is the pipe that runs up the wall, and the horizontal part holds the shower head. For the head itself, flatten a small piece of clay or fold a tiny circle of cardboard. Glue the wire pipe to the inside wall of the shower, near the top. You can also add a small curved piece of wire lower down as a tap handle.

Step 5 — Install in the Bathroom

Position the finished shower in a corner of your miniature bathroom. Glue it firmly to the floor and walls. Add a tiny bath mat made from a scrap of fabric just outside the door. You can also add a small shelf inside the shower with a miniature bottle of shampoo made from a bead or a tiny piece of painted clay.
