There's something wonderfully cosy about a bedroom — and when you shrink one down to fit inside a suitcase, it becomes something truly magical. In this project, Karina shows you how to build a complete miniature bedroom with a tiny bed, a little wardrobe, and a bedside lamp that makes you wish you could curl up inside. Sweet dreams guaranteed.
Step by Step
Step 1 — Line the Suitcase with Wallpaper
Choose a soft, warm wallpaper for the bedroom walls. Cut it to fit the inside of the suitcase — the bottom and the inside of the lid. A floral pattern or a soft stripe works beautifully for a bedroom. Glue it down smoothly and let it dry completely.
Step 2 — Create the Floor
Cut a piece of cardboard to fit the base of the suitcase. Cover it with paper that looks like wooden floorboards or paint it in a warm colour. Add a tiny rug made from a scrap of fabric — every bedroom needs something soft underfoot.
Step 3 — Build the Bed with Fabric Bedding
Construct a small bed frame from cardboard or thin wood. Make a mattress from a piece of foam or cotton wrapped in fabric. Add a tiny pillow and a little blanket or duvet — choose fabrics that feel cosy and inviting. Tuck the bedding in neatly, or leave it a little rumpled for a lived-in look.
Step 4 — Add the Wardrobe
Build a small wardrobe from cardboard, with doors that can open if you like. Paint or cover it with paper. Inside, you can hang tiny clothes made from fabric scraps on wire hangers. A pair of small shoes at the bottom is a lovely detail.
Step 5 — Finishing Touches
Place a bedside table next to the bed with a tiny lamp on top. Add a small picture frame on the wall, a book on the nightstand, or a pair of slippers by the bed. These final details are what make a bedroom feel like someone's home. Glue everything down securely so it travels safely.
