There is something magical about a string of tiny paper garlands hanging across a room. They make everything feel festive and joyful, whether it is for a party, a holiday, or just to brighten up a quiet corner. And they are wonderfully easy to make — you will have them strung up in no time.
Step by Step
Step 1 — Cut Tiny Triangles or Circles
Cut small shapes from coloured paper — triangles for classic bunting, circles for a more modern look, or stars for something special. Use as many different colours as you like. The shapes should be quite small, so use sharp scissors and take your time for neat results.
Step 2 — Fold Over the Thread
Cut a length of thin thread or string to the right length for your room. Take each paper shape and fold it in half over the thread, so the thread runs through the middle of each piece. This is the easiest way to attach the shapes evenly along the string.
Step 3 — Glue in Place
Add a tiny dot of glue inside each folded shape to hold it closed around the thread. Space them evenly or bunch them close together — both looks are lovely. Press each one gently and let the glue set before moving on to make sure nothing slides around.
Step 4 — Hang Between Walls
String your finished garland across the room, attaching each end to opposite walls with a small drop of glue or a tiny pin. Let it drape slightly in the middle for a natural swag. You can hang multiple garlands at different heights for a really festive atmosphere.
