Making Miniature Buckets from Paper

Roll and shape paper into cute miniature buckets with wire handles. Fill them with tiny flowers, cleaning supplies, or anything your miniature world needs.

A tiny bucket is one of those miniature accessories that looks charming anywhere — on a doorstep filled with flowers, in a kitchen with cleaning supplies, or in a garden ready for work. Making them from paper is quick and easy, and you will find yourself making extras just because they are so satisfying to create.

Step by Step

Step 1 — Roll the Paper Shape

Cut a small piece of paper and roll it into a cylinder or a slightly tapered cone shape — wider at the top and narrower at the bottom, just like a real bucket. Glue the edge down so it holds its shape. A toothpick can help you roll it evenly.

Step 2 — Create the Base

Cut a small circle of paper to fit the bottom of your bucket and glue it in place. Press it firmly and add an extra dot of glue around the inside edge to make it watertight — well, as watertight as a paper bucket can be. Let it dry completely.

Step 3 — Add the Wire Handle

Bend a small piece of thin wire into a U-shape for the handle. Poke or glue the ends into opposite sides of the bucket near the top rim. The handle should arc nicely over the opening, just like a real bucket handle. Adjust it until it looks right.

Step 4 — Paint Metallic or Colourful

Paint your bucket in whatever style you like. Silver or grey gives a classic metal bucket look. Bright colours like red, blue, or green work for a cheerful garden bucket. You can even add tiny painted bands around the outside to suggest metal hoops.
