A living room is the heart of any miniature house, and this kit makes it wonderfully easy to furnish one. Inside the box you will find all the laser-cut wooden pieces for a sofa, a table and a bookcase — everything a tiny mouse family needs for a cozy evening at home. Follow along with the video or the steps below, and you will have a complete living room in no time.
Handy: our living room furniture kit includes all the wooden pieces for a complete living room.
Step by Step
Step 1: Unpack and Identify the Pieces
Carefully pop all the wooden pieces out of the sheets and lay them on a clean surface. Take a moment to sort them by furniture item — you will find groups for the sofa, the table and the bookcase. Gently sand any rough edges where the pieces were attached to the sheet. This small step makes everything fit together more neatly.
Step 2: Assemble the Sofa Frame
Start with the sofa because it is the largest piece. Slot the seat panel into the back panel, then attach the two armrests on either side. Use a thin line of wood glue along each joint and hold the pieces in place for a moment while the glue grips. The sofa should feel sturdy once all four parts are connected.
Step 3: Build the Table
The table is made from a flat top and four legs. Glue each leg into its slot on the underside of the tabletop, making sure they are straight and even. Stand the table upright on a flat surface while the glue dries so the legs set at the right angle. A small, steady table makes all the difference in a miniature room.
Step 4: Construct the Bookcase
Fit the shelves between the two side panels, working from the bottom shelf upward. A drop of glue on each shelf end keeps everything solid. Add the back panel last — it gives the bookcase its final strength and a clean, finished look from the front.
Step 5: Glue and Let Dry
Go back over all your pieces and add a tiny extra drop of glue to any joints that feel loose. Then set everything aside to dry completely. Patience here pays off — once the glue has fully set, your furniture will be strong enough to handle painting, decorating and years of play.
Make It Your Own
The beauty of a wooden kit is that it is a blank canvas. You can leave the wood natural for a warm, rustic look, or paint everything in bright colors for a playful mouse home. Try a soft blue or green on the sofa, a contrasting color on the bookcase, and a simple stain on the table. Add tiny cushions from fabric scraps, miniature books on the shelves, or a small rug underneath the table. Every little detail you add makes the living room feel more like home.
