Tiny packages and jars are the kind of details that make a miniature shop or kitchen feel truly alive. In this tutorial you will fold and assemble all sorts of miniature packaging — from little grocery boxes to sweet jars with labels — all from pre-printed die-cut sheets. Everything is already drawn and coloured for you, so all you need to do is cut, fold and glue.
Step by Step
Step 1: Punch Out the Shapes
Carefully punch or cut out all the printed shapes from your die-cut sheet. You will see package templates, jar shapes and tiny labels — each one designed to fold into a miniature object. Cut as close to the printed outline as you can for the neatest result. Lay everything out so you can match the pieces that go together.
Step 2: Fold the Package Shapes
Start with the packages. Each one has fold lines printed on it — gently crease along these lines to create the box shape. Some packages are simple rectangular boxes, others have more interesting shapes like cartons or pouches. Work through them one at a time, enjoying how each flat piece of paper transforms into a recognisable little product.
Step 3: Glue the Seams
Apply a small amount of glue to the tabs and press the package together. Hold each seam for a few seconds to let the glue set. Be sparing with the glue — a thin line is all you need. If any glue squeezes out, gently wipe it away with a dry finger before it dries. Clean seams make the finished pieces look much more polished.
Step 4: Assemble the Jars and Labels
The jars are assembled by rolling or folding the printed jar shape and gluing it closed. Some jars come with separate labels — wrap these around the jar body and secure with a tiny dot of glue. The labels add a lovely extra layer of detail and make each jar look like a real product you might find on a shelf. Once assembled, these little jars look wonderful grouped together in rows.
