If you have ever wanted to make the most whimsical, dreamy miniatures, this is the project for you. Tiny lollipops, little candy pieces, and — the star of the show — fluffy cotton candy on a stick. It is easier than you think, and the result is absolutely magical. This is one of those projects that fills a miniature scene with instant charm and happiness.
Step by Step
Step 1: Form Candy Pieces
Start by making a variety of small candy shapes — little round drops, tiny rectangles, small ovals. Use bright, happy colours and mix them freely. You can add stripes by pressing thin strips of a contrasting colour onto each piece. These little candies are quick to make and look wonderful when you have a whole collection of them.
Step 2: Create the Cotton Candy
This is the magical part. Take a small ball of pink or blue clay and gently pull and tease it to create a fluffy, irregular shape. The trick is to not make it too smooth — cotton candy is airy and cloud-like, so an uneven, slightly rough surface is exactly what you want. Pull it gently until it looks soft and puffy.
Step 3: Add the Stick
Take a thin piece of wire or a toothpick cut to size and carefully press it into the bottom of your cotton candy shape. This is the stick that holds it all together. Make sure it is seated firmly so it stays in place during baking. A tiny drop of liquid clay on the joint can help if you have some, but it is usually not necessary.
Step 4: Shape Lollipops
For lollipops, roll two colours of clay into thin snakes and twist them together. Then coil the twisted snake into a flat spiral. Press gently to hold the shape and attach a small piece of wire or toothpick as the stick. You can make them in any colour combination you like — every lollipop gets its own personality.
Step 5: Bake
Arrange your candy, cotton candy, and lollipops on a parchment-lined tray and bake according to your clay instructions. Be careful with the thin wire sticks — let everything cool completely before handling. Once baked, your miniature candy collection is ready to bring sweetness and joy to any miniature scene.
