The To Go Suitcase
The inside of Ella's little ballet studio is printed with real Mouse Mansion floors, cheerful wallpaper, and a mirrored wall. Inside you’ll find wooden sheets with parts to assemble your own furniture: a bed, table, stools, and of course a ballet barre. The pieces simply click together like a puzzle, so no glue is needed.
Once your bed is ready, you can make it extra cosy with the included handmade bedding set (pillow, duvet, and mattress). The little tea set fits perfectly on the table – a teapot, tray, and two teacups.
Now it’s time to decorate! Use the punch-out sheets to fold your own miniature shoeboxes, lampshades, plants and even a tiny card game. The sticker sheet is full of fun little extras like book covers, ballet posters, and other cheerful details to complete the ballet room.
All done? Then let the fun begin. Make up stories, let Ella dance at the barre, or host a tea party after rehearsal. And since everything fits inside the suitcase, you can take it with you – on holiday, to grandma’s or on a sleepover!
About the Mouse Mansion
The Mouse Mansion is a world of its own, with over a hundred tiny rooms full of houses, shops, streets and outdoor spaces, all mouse-sized. Each room has its own resident, complete with a unique story, personality and family ties. This world is explored by two curious mice: Sam and Julia. The everyday adventures they experience in the Mouse Mansion teach young readers valuable life lessons. The Mouse Mansion is a safe haven, an inclusive world, and a story about friendship and community.
Two other titles of the book series are translated to English: Sam and Julia and The Big Book of Look and Find. With each book, you’ll discover a new part of the Mouse Mansion.
About Karina Schaapman
The Mouse Mansion was handcrafted by artist Karina Schaapman (born in 1960). She wanted to create a children’s book – not with drawings, but with photos of scenes from her self-built Mouse Mansion. The story of Sam and Julia was already in her mind. What started with a few pieces of cardboard and some glue grew into a full miniature world with over a hundred little rooms. A world where, as Karina says, she would want every child to grow up.
The original Mouse Mansion is three metres tall and two metres wide. You can admire it in real life at the Mouse Mansion shop and museum on Muntplein in Amsterdam.
